Dear Bold Traveller,
Spring has definitely arrived and, with it, many of us shrug off the weight of winter and slip into a welcome feeling of lightness. Our seasonal shift is almost cleansing, a move that opens our spirits to a wealth of possibilities.
This is also the time to start planning the next getaway, whether a long weekend or a longer, well-deserved break. As reported in my last newsletter, travel is a proven mood-booster. In fact, just the act of planning can add that spring in our step that starts in the happiness centre of our minds.
And, as much a buzzword as mindful is, it does carry meaning beyond the zeitgeist. We’re not just looking for mindful meditation retreats, we’re being more mindful of how and even where we travel now
But, sometimes, we just want to get away from it all – even if it means airports and luggage and delays, oh my! – because the benefits upon arrival are worth it. We here at Bold Traveller are always grateful for the opportunity to share some wonderful wellness destinations and the experiences one can have while there with you, dear reader.
From Thailand to Los Cabos, these places excel at the idea of rest, relaxation and more importantly, a deeper body, mind and spirit connection. And how does one define a wellness getaway? For some, it’s an active adrenaline rush, while for others, it’s calm and tranquility that books the ticket. And we love that about the Bold Traveller; your engagement in the places you visit goes beyond flopping on a beach with a piña colada in hand (although we love that, too, as evidenced by our love stories on the Caribbean!); but having the privilege of immersing yourself in where you are is also a key driver.
just the act of planning can add that spring in our step that starts in the happiness centre of our minds.
I wrote recently about my own experience, floating blissfully in the natural hot springs in Australia; writer Darcy Rhyno shared his feel-good time in Costa Rica; we’ve rounded up the top wellness spas in the Bahamas; and, perhaps most importantly, our contributing editor, Vawn Himmelsbach shared her well-seasoned advice on how to travel better, regardless of where or why your going. A mindful respect for etiquette, it seems, is always on trend.
With that, since we are in the storytelling space – and loving it! – I also want to invite you to join the Bold Traveller community. We would love to see all your wellness – and beyond – photos of where you are in the world.
Tag us at #iamaboldtraveller (and follow us at our IG account @boldtravellermag) and share your photos and experiences, and we will do our best to repost and tag you back. It doesn’t have to be the most lavish or far-flung, it could even just be a mini-break in your own backyard. Because if it’s one thing we all know now, it takes a village, and the networking and connection to the things that bring us joy or joyful inspiration is key to our health and wellbeing.
There is so much more to share when it comes to this good news about travel. It just makes you feel good. And, to borrow from a wise sage, that’s a good thing.
PS Don’t forget to sign up for our weekly newsletter, and our post card of the week, to start your Mondays off with a little bit of dreaming about your destination next. #iamaboldraveller
