We’ve arrived in Memphis, Tennessee, a city of culture, art and history and the home of Blues, Soul and Rock & Roll. It’s also the home of the boutique hotel, ARRIVE Memphis, in the city’s South Main Arts District. The hotel has earned a spot on Fodors Travel’s 20 Best Hotels in the United States, Canada, and Central America.

Sixty-two guestrooms feature a modern industrial chic look with a refined design that boosts pleasure and relaxation. The rooms are filled with natural light, thanks to the giant windows that overlook the city. The beds are wrapped in Egyptian cotton accented by colourful rugs while the marble bathroom highlights the once housed industrial warehouse.

The lobby is the centre of hustle and bustle, which makes the aptly named Hustle & Dough and Bar Hustle popular spots to grab a drink and a bite. The atmosphere is chilled, dressed in eclectic, antique furniture highlighted by things like a phonograph next to a brown leather couch. It’s warm and inviting, yet intriguing and sophisticated.

THE PROPERTY:

ARRIVE Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THIS HOTEL?

Aside from its unique composition, the hotel is conveniently close to historic attractions, diverse culinary options and the new Tom Lee Park.

WHEN DID IT OPEN?

November 2019

ANY HISTORY TO THE PLACE?

The building was the longtime home of Lewis Supply Co. You can still find industrial elements sprinkled throughout the property. The building also housed the Hyde Gallery and the Memphis College of Art’s graduate program. The artwork adorning the hotel walls is by Michelle Fair, a former student, whose designs decorate the hotel key cards.

DESIGNED FOR EVERYBODY?

#ARRIVEMemphis

#ARRIVEMemphis lounge

Designed for anyone aged 21 or over. Everyone from businesspeople, leisure travellers, explorers and people just passing through stay here. Oh, and well-behaved dogs 30 lbs and under are also welcome. Speaking of welcome, when you check-in, guests are offered a welcome beverage of their choice.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION:

In the South Main Arts District, Arrive Memphis is close to several unique dining establishments and attractions, like Arcade Restaurant, the oldest restaurant in Memphis. Elvis Presley frequented this establishment so much, there is a booth dedicated to the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Less than a block away sits the National Civil Rights Museum, at the historic Lorraine Motel where Civil Rights Leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was assassinated. Beale Street Entertainment District is also within walking distance. Getting around the rest of town is easy, especially with a trolley stop directly in front of the hotel.

BREAKFAST IN BED?

Hustle & Dough

Hustle & Dough

Head down to the lobby, where the smell of freshly baked pastries from Hustle & Dough paired with the aroma of coffee from Vice & Virtue, a local micro-batch coffee shop, blend together to create the perfect wake up call. Be sure to try the avocado toast, an extremely popular item on the menu. Hustle & Dough offers hotel guests in-room breakfast and lunch from 7 am to 4 pm daily. Bar Hustle offers cocktails, wine and beer with a side of Detroit-style pizza while Longshot, a shuffleboard bar and restaurant, has also become a local favourite.

TAKE A SOAK

Another favourite was the design of the bathroom. From the marble counter to the industrialized faucet and lighting fixture and the sliding door that opens up to reveal the big, bright, cozy room, adding a touch of sunshine to the day.

WHAT YOU LOVED:

I love that each floor has a different quote that resonates with the city. When the elevator doors open, guests are greeted by something like: One Night of Sin – “One night with you, Is what I’m now praying for, The things that we could plan, Would make my dreams come true” —Elvis Presley.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I really liked the 24/7 text communication access to ARRIVE Memphis’ team for questions, requests or city recommendations.  arrivehotels.com/memphis
