A shiny, high-ceilinged, glittering ground-level lobby features a showstopping oversized chandelier and grand staircase. Amidst it all, The St. Regis Macao is small by comparison, but this intimacy provides the backdrop for one of Macau’s most relaxing stays.
The Rooms

One-bedroom suites here are palatial, outfitted with a generously-sized entrance hallway, a powder room and a living and dining area complete with television, couch, dining table and bar area. Inside the adjoining bedroom, a plush king-sized bed sits next to giant windows that reveal views of the sparkling strip down below. Multiple well-appointed closets mean it’s possible to properly unpack, and the white-marbled ensuite includes a standing shower, giant soaker tub, Dyson hair dryer, lighted makeup mirror and double vanities offering plenty of counter space.
Anyone who stays at a St. Regis should take advantage of the hotel’s famous 24-hour butler service, with employees attending to every need – from late-night snacks to laundered items. All hotel guests are given access to the large outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, but those looking for something more bespoke should visit The Spa at The St. Regis Macao, where curated treatments are the perfect antidote to jetlag. The design was inspired by the original star-studded Iridium Room at The St. Regis New York, and the resulting space is a shining oasis high in the sky, with accents of white, rose gold and pearl. While awaiting treatment, guests are served a proprietary blend of herbal tea (so good you’ll want to take some home with you) and are then led into one of the spacious, tranquil treatment rooms where the experience really begins. The Re-Energize couples’ massage, for instance, starts with a soak in a tub of water infused with rose petals, progresses to a reflexology foot massage and, finally, to a deep release of the whole body – pure bliss.
The Food

The Manor’s epic breakfast buffet is not to be missed, serving up a mix of European, Asian and American dishes: from classic eggs and sausage to noodle soups, dumplings and sweets flavoured with pandan. Come evening – after experiencing The St. Regis’ iconic Champagne sabering ritual in the lobby – pay a visit to The St. Regis Bar, which serves an excellent selection of craft cocktails (try the Macao Egg Tart with dark rum, toasted bread and condensed milk) and Chinese dishes. The Grand Marnier and Flambé Chili Fish is notable here, served piping hot in a bubbling cauldron with cooked-to-perfection seabass, dried chillies and mandarin peel in a savoury Szechuan pepper broth. Perfect in every way.
